The update from the Provincial Health Officer on January 18, 2022, made some changes around gyms and fitness activities permitted but there was no change to the permissions regarding sports tournaments. At this time, tournaments, defined as single day or multi-day events, involving more than two teams, are still prohibited. Please read memo for full details.

The PHO announced earlier today an update to the Gathering and Events Order in place in the Province of BC. This order comes into effect at 12:00am on Monday, December 20. This order prohibits the playing of sport tournaments (youth or adult) where more than 2 teams are involved in the same event. Please read the attached memo for full details.

The BCSS Board of Directors has made the decision to move the upcoming 2021 ‘AAA’ Girls Volleyball Championship that was scheduled to be hosted by Dawson Creek Secondary School in early December. BCSS received numerous messages expressing concern from districts, schools, coaches and parents about travelling to Dawson Creek for the event. After examining the current COVID-19 case numbers, and relatively low vaccination rates in the community the decision was made to move the Championship to a different location.
