Entries: Entries must be submitted by the zone rep.  Please follow the directions in the meet package available on the BCSS website.  Schools are encouraged to make payments through Paypal.  Please see the meet package for details.

ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION

SPORT PARTICIPATION DECLARATION:

DECLARATION DEADLINE: October 7 (as per policy C2.1)
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: October 7 (as per policy C2.2.1)
FINAL REGISTRATION DEADLINE: October 26 or 7 days prior to zone events (whichever is earlier) (as per policy C2.3.1)

COMPETITIVE DESIGNATIONS:
SWIMMING

Open Category: 

Any swimmer meeting the qualifications of BC School Sports.  Swimmers registered with SNC/Swim BC must enter this category and MUST provide their SNC number to the meet organizer prior to the competition.

B Category: 

As of January 1st of the championship year, a ‘B Category’ swimmer trains and competes from May 1st to Sept. 30th with no restrictions.

From Oct. 1st to April 30th a B swimmer may train with their high school team and may participate in other speed swimming training (eg. Winter maintenance, Triclub, private coaching, etc.) as long as it does not exceed 2 hours/week.

Outside of high school practices, a ‘B’ swimmer may not accumulate more than 4 hours per week of organized aquatic activity (speed swimming, water polo & synchro).  Speed swimming cannot exceed 2 of the 4 hours, a water polo game counts for 20 minutes and a synchro routine meet counts as 20 minutes.  A synchro figures meet does not count.  Diving practice is unrestricted.

‘B’ swimmers may swim in the Open category or the B category, but may not compete in the same stroke in both Open and B events (i.e. a B swimmer may not enter both 50 back and 100 back).  B swimmers may swim in B or Open category relays but may not swim in the same relay in both the open and B event.

SWAD Category:

Any swimmer classified as a swimmer with a disability under SNC classifications.  SWAD athletes MUST be officially classified to compete in this category.

SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING
Synchro levels are skill based, and not related to hours of practice
Tier 1 - 7:
Swimmers are to swim in their respective Tier Category that corresponds to the Star Level that they have passed and are presently registered in with Synchro BC. All swimmers will compete in their respective Tier for figures and routing element. Swimmers must enter both categories to compete.
Novice:
Swimmers are those who are or have been registered as recreational swimmers but not as Tier 1 - 7 swimmers with Synchro BC, and also Novice swimmers are to swim in the Star Level that they have passed and registered with Synchro BC.
Novice Star 1:
Swimmers who have never been Star tested will enter in the Novice Star 1 category.
